In an effort to encapsulate our philosophy of continuous improvement based on strong relationships, strong people, strong systems, and strong software, Logistics Management Services worked with a fellow Inc. 500 member branding company to create a new name. We tasked the company to represent our founders’ Scandinavian ancestry. The branding company came back with Kerasys, from the Finnish word, “Ahkera” meaning industrious, or strong, and the suffix, “sys” meaning system. To soften the sound and make the name flow, we changed the “K” to a “C” and switch out the “Y” for an “I”. Thus, on 1/1/2005, we officially changed our name from Logistics Management Services to Cerasis, Inc.
Steve Norall and Steve Ludvigson, after working as logistics professionals for years at Pitney Bowes, realized an opportunity in providing freight logistics service and technology solutions for those who ship primarily LTL, TL, and small package freight via a web-based application. In the beginning, the goal was to offer customer-centric solutions and technologies that not only solved a business problem but allowed customers to maximiz the use of services in order to help them grow and scale.
