The Cerasis team recently exhibited at the first of five manufacturing trade shows we will attend in 2013, Houstex. Houstex 2013 was held in Houston, Texas, at the George R. Brown Convention Center from February 26th through February 28th with the awesome tag line: “Go Beyond the Ordinary to See the Extraordinary: The Art of Manufacturing”.
This show is the first of three shows put on by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers in which Cerasis will exhibit. The other two we will attend are Eastec, in West Springfield, MA, from May 14-16th and Westec in Los Angeles from October 15th-17th. We couldn’t be more excited about the interactive opportunities to show our technology and services to advanced manufacturers in the CNC, marking, and advanced manufacturing fields!
All in all, the show was a great lead generator for Cerasis, allowing us to get our name out there to several manufacturers and gain new customers and new partnerships.
On day one we were able to learn about the laser industry from the Laser Learning lounge. The lounge was filled with presentations all three days. The Cerasis team saw firsthand the advanced technology going into laser marking when we stopped by and saw Stephen and Jun from RMI Laser, LLC, and got carabiners marked! In fact, one of our founders, Steve Norall, was trying to find a way to purchase one on the spot so we could put the Cerasis logo on everything in the office!
Rise of the (CNC) Machines
We also saw a ton of CNC machines, some weighing almost 30 TONS! Yes, 60,000 lbs! These included the HUGE machines we saw from Hilary Machines and Knuth USA. If you run a machine shop and you want to find some new products, Houstex is the show for you. We met many attendees who run machine shops who said that Houstex was one of the best shows hands down to find new CNC machines.
How Much Wood Could a Wood Chuck Cut with a Chuck?
It was great meeting Conroe, Texas company H&R Manufacturing. We met the son of the founder and their Director of Marketing. These guys had passion and were truly working it at the show. We haven’t seen so many chucks since the last time we strolled into Beaver Creek!
Waterjet Cutting Is the New Black
Also featured were a lot of waterjet companies, such as Omax, Flow International Corp., and KMT Waterjet Systems. Many of the companies showed off the power of these machines by making very cool designs and handing them out. You cannot beat that kind of tangible marketing! Plus, who doesn’t instantly feel like a kid again when you see water cut metal!
Shops Need Tools and Tools Distributors Save the Day!
We enjoyed getting to know the tool distributors, too, and saw some great exhibits such as the Statue of Liberty at Riten Industries and the towering exhibit and free t-shirts from Dorian Tool. We also saw Seco Tools, literally everywhere! Again, at a machine shop, tools are king, and there was no shortage of great companies offering the latest technologies in tools and parts.
Technology Changing Businesses and Helping Bottom Lines
Like ourselves, we saw some great technology providers for the manufacturing space. It was great to get to know the guys at Global Shop Solutions, KeyedIn Solutions, and the guys from Dozuki! All of these offered cloud solutions and often made us wonder why more people aren’t attracted to manufacturing. Some of the most advanced technology is in this space, and we saw it first hand.
Fast Cars and Magnets, Oh My!
And finally, how could we forget Hartwig’s Lamborghini ride give away! Although no one from Cerasis won, it sure was a sight to see. Hartwig is a machine tool solution distributor and really came to play! We were only hoping that the powerful magnets over at the Eriez booth didn’t find this yellow Lamborghini beauty! Besides the magnets, Eriez really stood out with their signature orange color!
All in all, if you are looking to network or get to know those in the CNC, manufacturing technology, tools, water cutting, laser marking and oil and gas manufacturing fields, Houstex is THE show to attend!
Make sure you come visit us at Eastec in May. We are at booth 3359. You can view the entire Houstex 2013 Gallery below or watch the YouTube Video!

Looking to provide powerful freight technology and freight management services, Cerasis exhibits alongside manufacturers
(Dallas, TX) Cerasis, Inc., a freight logistics company, founded in 1997, announced that they are exhibiting at the three day Houstex 2013 manufacturing tradeshow in Houston, Texas, starting February 26th through February 28th. The tradeshow is put on by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Manufacturers exhibit at Houstex to showcase emerging technologies and to network with both manufacturers and service providers.
Houstex aligns well with the emerging technology and continuous improvement service offerings of Cerasis through their powerful freight technology tools. Exhibitors and attendees hail from the oil and gas manufacturing industry, which expects double digit growth over the next year, according to world class accounting firm Deloitte. Additionally aligning well with Cerasis’ objectives and goals are the exhibitors of manufacturers from such industries as aeronautics, medical research, and advanced technology.
“Cerasis is now looking to attract a more sophisticated and larger manufacturing customer by attending the Houstex Trade Show,” said Vice President of Business Development, Steve Norall. “Our systems have always supported and scaled alongside large shippers with multiple locations due to our ease of implementation and powerful freight technology’s ability to eliminate manual process and increase visibility to manufacturers’ and freight shippers’ supply chains.”
Cerasis staff will man booth 416, showcasing their proprietary freight management software, the Cerasis Rater, and integrated freight management services. Their services include freight logistics services in Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Truckload (TL), and small package as well as freight accounting and freight claims management services. Cerasis also provides carrier relationship management to better negotiate rates for their clients.
Founded in 1997, Cerasis is a top freight logistics company and truckload freight broker. Cerasis (and our shippers) leverage proprietary web-based freight management software, the Cerasis Rater, developed from the ground up by our dedicated technology team to ship LTL Freight, Truckload Freight, and small package. In addition to this powerful, customer-centric freight management software, Cerasis offers full support to our shippers for both inbound and outbound freight, our shippers’ vendors, and ultimately our shippers’ customers, through dedicated and integrated freight management services.
