The worlds of online and offline businesses continue to merge and in 2017, as outlined in this infographic from the CUBE, it’s time that retailers finally embraced it. The first major change was, of course, the growth of the internet and during this period bricks and mortar retailers started to feel threatened that people would buy products online instead of shopping in their store. What retailers didn’t realize is that this was only phased one, and in truth, it didn’t have a major effect on the majority of stores. Phase two was the proliferation of smartphones as this gave people the internet when and where they wanted it.
Research has shown that 90% of retail shoppers use a digital device while shopping in the store but the important thing to remember is that this doesn’t mean they’re going to buy the item online. People often just check reviews online and end up buying the product in the store. Find out more about being a retailer in 2017 in the infographic below.
