Cerasis Increases Freight Broker Surety Bond to $250K, Now TIA Performance Certified

Cerasis, a top freight logistics service provider, announced today that they are increasing their freight broker surety bond from $10,000 to $250,000, further demonstrating its pledge to protect the freight transportation industry against fraud.

In July of 2012, the highway reauthorization deal, passed by the House and Senate conference committee, ironed out the increased minimum bond required of transportation brokers to legally operate. Language in the tentative agreement raised the surety bond minimum to $75,000 from $10,000, the level at which it had been since the deregulation era.

Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) President and CEO Bob Voltmann said the requirement will help prevent “underfunded companies” that have given the industry a “black eye.” Voltmann’s statement aligns with the Cerasis philosophy of continuous improvement of their organization in order to better serve their customers.

Cerasis takes the commitment to not only meet the minimum freight broker surety bond of $75,000 but to go above and beyond by increasing the surety bond to $250,000, thus qualifying for the designation of “TIA Performance Certified.”

As part of the TIA Performance Certified designation, Cerasis is able to put the PC250 Logo on marketing material such as the company website, advertisements, and sales collateral. Less than 1% of all brokers, forwarders, and other 3PLs are Performance Certified. That means that when a potential business partner sees the PC250 logo, it will clearly indicate that Cerasis is one of the most committed in the industry.
